Disc pathology

Published June 26, 2015

I know I have said this a lot in my presentations, but you need to give a diagnosis so you can appropriately treat. What does a “disc injury” mean to you or the patient? Is it discogenic pain because of a annular tear? Is it a disc herniation with or with out a nerve compression? If you do not know, you can not accurately diagnose it and that may change how you treat and for how long. If you are treating a MVC patient with a “disc injury”, you may be asked by an attorney “How do you know it is the disc that is injured and what does your treatment do for this injury?”
