I have discussed many papers and my clinical experience on ligament injuries and how they can be debilitating. I am going to give to you two links where NFL players could not play because of a ligament injury. Insurance companies routinely argue that ligament injuries are only “soft tissue self resolving” injuries and that most treatment in unnecessary and that the injury its self, will not have any long term effect. In this link, the QB could not play because he has a injured ligament in his non throwing hand. We know clinically that this is painful and disabling. Here is the paper, I am adding this in any of my reports showing what treatment can be for these ligament injuries. :http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/jets-qb-ryan-fitzpatrick-ligament-damage-left-hand-article-1.2420977
In this article, this player got hit and they removed him from the field. He is undergoing surgery for a ligament injury. I hope both these players have a speedy recovery! The other player who hit him had no visible damage to his pads. Here is the story: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000571326/article/ricardo-lockette-undergoing-seasonending-surgery
In the “real world” we know these injuries can be painful and life altering. Do not let some insurance company try to scare you into not giving appropriate care.
