Lumbar Instability and Pain

Here is a paper where the authors looked at patients who were diagnosed with "discogenic pain" and evaluated them with flexion extension lumbar x-rays to determine the likelihood of instability. This paper is great to explain how abnormal movement can lead to increased pain. The authors suggest this imaging should be done on patients with "nonspecific pain" to determine the actual cause of pain, and how that can help improve treatment plans.
