I hate hearing that degeneration in the disc is "normal for age". If this were true, all the discs would degenerate at the same rate because they are all the same age. Here is a study where they loaded discs to determine if it would increase cell death causing degeneration. They applied compression. Now, from a clinical perspective, imagine your patient has a kyphotic neck. How many studies have I posted on Professionally Integrated showing how a kyphotic neck increases compressive loads?
