Here is a paper where the authors take a look at anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) for radiculopathy due to degenerative changes. They wanted to see what the quality of life (QOL) was like in patients that had to undergo this procedure compared to those who do not. The authors found that after a fusion the quality-of-life was not as good compared to those that did have fusions but the surgery did help.
