Below is a paper where they looked at MRI findings in patients involved in crashes and not in crashes. They looked at CSF flow and other morphologic changes. This paper says there is not a difference between the crash and non-crash patients. However, when you look at the symptoms, as well as other findings, there appears to be a difference. I personally use MRI for radicular type of symptoms and as you know, many traumas that occur in crashes are "axial neck pain" which are more identifiable in flexion extension x-rays , and furthermore digital . . .
