Effects of cervical spine posture on axial load bearing ability: a biomechanical study

Here is a study that shows that a loss of the cervical curve (like what can happen in a MVC) weakens the spine and causes it to fail earlier. This is a great example as to 1) if your patient had a pre-existing flattened neck and gets in another car crash, why this new injury may make them much worse 2) how after a crash with a loss of the curve sets our patients up for further injuries and flare ups.  This is why I feel patients can not be at MMI (maximum medical improvement) if they still have . . .
